I've been following Kathy's Quilts for quite some time now. I love her posts and projects and she's a fellow Canuck!
I thought I would add this post to her Slow Sunday Stitching, which reminds us to slow down today and do some handwork!
This is Flourishes, by Peace o Cake designs. It's been my never ending project for the past ten years or so. I am hand quilting it, quilt-as-you-go. This is Block 6 of 12. It would certainly move along faster, if I actually TAKE THE TIME to work on it. But that's what the blog is for right? A little accountability!
This project started years ago as a challenge with a friend. Needless to say, hers has been done long ago, although she did only 8 blocks where I bought the extra blocks. Mine is closer to the original pattern whereby hers is done with batiks. The only rule would be to use what we have on hand, no buying for the project. And that's what we've done. I used Thimbleberries fabrics that I had for years.
So I have six block to do, (actually want to redo 2 of them because the appliqué needed a little improvement) and quilt the setting triangles, trim and figure out how to put them together! LOL! Thank goodness I have a pal who has done a lot of quilt as you goes and will show me how to put the blocks together. Then the border! Yikes. Would I love to have this done in 2023? Oh yes!
Check out Kathy's Quilts blog post today at Slow Sunday Stitching. Hope i did that right!
Lovely project. I finished that quilt several years ago, after starting it the year it came out, a long time ago. I quilted it last year and gifted it to my granddaughter for her college graduation. I have another one by Piece of Cake that is started but nowhere near complete. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Nice to know that I can actually finish this one! Haha! I have a few Peace o cake patterns. Maybe one day!
DeleteYour Flourishes quilt is going to be lovely. I would imagine it has been a lovely pretty to stitch slowly. I think we all have a blog to help remind us what we are stitching, to use it as a stitching journal. I love looking back to see what has been accomplished, even the small achievements. Lovely to visit you. Enjoy your hand stitching.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim! There is much to stitch here!
DeleteWhat a pretty project this is. I hope you keep working on it steadily and keep linking to Slow Sunday Stitching. I will enjoy watching your progress. I scrolled around the rest of your blog. You have some pretty projects in progress. Yes, a blog gives you accountability, but I find that it also motivates you to complete more each week so that you have something to blog about. Enjoy your pretty stitching.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point Cathie! I will try to advance for next Sunday! Thanks!
